Gratitude.

I have been struggling with a disconnect in my life between “my world" and my Butte Fire reality. Most of the people in my day to day life have no idea what is going on in my Butte Fire reality. They just do not understand. At all. Why? Probably because I live in Oakland and my life shouldn’t be affected by the Butte Fire. That is a choice I made.

“There will be a few times in your life when all your instincts will tell you to do something, something that defies logic, upsets your plans, and may seem crazy to others. When that happens, you do it. Listen to your instincts and ignore everything else. Ignore logic, ignore the odds, ignore the complications, and just go for it.” ― Judith McNaught, Remember When

And I am incredibly grateful I did. My life in the past two months has been emotional, stressful, overwhelming and hard. It has also been incredibly meaningful and rewarding.

The amount of gratitude I feel for what I have and the people in my life that truly support me is immense right now. The people who have seen what I am doing and reached out to me, the people who have loved me unconditionally for a long time and the people I have recently met, my Butte Fire family, who have restored my faith in humanity with their big hearts and compassion for others.

So thank you from the bottom of my heart to friends and family (new and old) for your love and support. Life is tough and we need each other.

(I started this post feeling very angry, but it is amazing how calming talking about what you are grateful for can be)
